Genres

Some readers say, “I only like some of your genres.”

I know many readers have a favourite genre. One that is as comfortable as a pair of old PJ’s on a wintry morning when it’s too cold to get out of bed. Some people like two or three genres. Others devour every piece of written material they can get their hands on, even the back of cereal boxes.

Not all my genres will suit each reader. This is to help you figure out which ones you might enjoy.

I write quiet stories. Young Adult Contemporary, usually with a romantic element. (Think Princess Diaries and Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.) And adventure filled Young Adult Fantasy and Young Teen Fantasy. (Think Tamora Pierce, John Flanagan.) Also Young Adult Urban Fantasy with horror, mythical or paranormal elements. (Think Vampire Diaries, Twilight, Wicked Lovely.) And I know not everyone will follow me to each of these genres that I love. We’re all different and we all like different things. To help you know if a book will be one you’ll enjoy, I’ve tried to be very precise with the genre details for each blurb.

There is one thing most of my stories have in common. They are about strong characters or characters who discover unknown strengths. Characters with determination and drive, or just plain stubbornness, who despite obstacles and the difficulties they face, march towards their goals. With the occasional stumble along the way.
